Importance of Tracking Teller Line Activity

July 27, 2010

Why is tracking teller line activity important?  The simple answer is that you cannot manage what you do not measure.  By tracking how many transactions your tellers are handling you are collecting information to analyze later to better manage your teller line performance.  If a teller has a transaction per hour number much less than all the other tellers, this is a red flag.  It puts you into a position to dig further into why this teller’s numbers are less than their peers.  One reason could be a training issue.  Closely observe this teller and try to identify any steps during their process that could be done more efficiently.  This same process can be completed for comparing branches in your network.

With new government regulations taking away significant sources of revenue for banks and credit unions, the time is now to optimize the performance of your teller line.
