Alarming Banking Fee Trends Highlighted in New Report

As discussed in this blog, the large banks are charging more fees to recapture the lost profit caused by Durbin and other regulations.

Javelin Strategy & Research recently published a new study showing a 26 percent increase over the past ten years in the amount consumers are paying in basic checking fees.  Javelin’s “The Cost of Regulation: The Necessity of Bank Fees” report also found that monthly account fees, in-network ATM fees, and out-of-network ATM fees increased by more than 20 percent over the past five years.
